NYCC 2011!!

I really hope I get to wear these one day!!
Ok! It's a little late, but things have been pretty busy since I got back home.  NYCC and NYAF 2011 was spectacular!
Prior to leaving I got a couple of fun things I had ordered in the mail! First was a pair of Iron Fist shoes that I'm actually putting away for my *Crosses fingers* wedding day.  No, I'm not engaged but these were so perfect and so hard to find that I had to get them now!  The swirling details and roses on the sides and back make them really pop even more than the metallic baby blue color!

A great author that really makes you think!
The other delivery was a book by one of my favorite authors, Erich Von Daniken!  I actually didn't get to read as much as I was hoping on vacation, but I'll start reading it on breaks at work.  If you're unfamiliar with his work, he is one of the leading authorities when it comes to the ancient astronaut theory.  If you've ever seen the show Ancient Aliens you've most likely seen him commentating.

My friends and I were at NYCC for four days.  The first two we were able to look around at all the vendors.  We started off together but wound up getting seperated.  It was a bit overwhelming at first being all alone in a such a large crowd, but then I realized I was in the one place that it was awesome to be let lose on my own!  I got to drool over all the anime and lolita vendors, take a few pics, and just do what I wanted to do.  The last two days I got to the con floor a couple more times, finding two whole rooms I had missed before!  In my travels I found a bunch of cute buttons and a couple shirts for myself, a shirt for my boyfriend, a kimono for my mom and a replica flute from Star Trek for my dad.  I also was able to get J. O'Barr's signature on a special edition copy of the graphic novel "The Crow," and Ashley Eckstein's autograph as well!

Ashley Eckstein!! The voice actor of Ahsoka Tano!

Also on the last two days were the Sci-Fi Speed Dating sessions.  I helped out mainly as a go-girl, helping out wherever I was needing and running for extra supplies.  It was really fun and it was great to see so many geeks and nerds finding new friends and possibly a new romance.  I really hope to help out again in the future!

My bloody drip nails I had at the Con.
One surprise during my trip was finding my cousin in NYC!  He contacted me after seeing my facebook post about being in the city and we were able to meet up the second night.  He showed me around the Times Square area of the city and we got stopped at a Halal cart for dinner!  We hadn't seen each other for at least thirteen years or so.  It was wonderful catching up with him and if I head down that way again we'll have to hang out again!

I have to say my first big outing was deffinately a success and hopefully there will be more to come here on out!

It's October!!

Considering I set up this blog at the beginning of October it makes sense that my first post should be about one of the most wonderful holidays out there: Halloween!  In honor of the season I have a nice theme going on and my zombie-kitty picture up top.

I have always been a fan of dressing up for any occasion that I can.  Just ask my coworkers....  Wether it's for an event or a specific holiday I'll either have a costume or at least pull out the Lolita wear.... ok the lolita style I wear on normal days too...The only thing that I've found a bit sad during this season is that other than the standard parties or dance club events this area doesn't have much in the way of halloween themed...events?  Or maybe I just live under a rock... which is possible.... Anyhow.  To remedy this, my boyfriend and my sometimes willing accomplice are planning on donning our dark finery and going out to dinner and maybe a movie or bowling etc.  We're going to make our own fun night! It'll be fun to see what people think of our chosen outfits.  We aren't going to do full costumes, but more upscale gothic elegance outfits.  It's hard to explain but I will post pics afterwards!

This month is also the New York Comic Con!  I'll be heading downstate with a group of peoples to what is going to be my first convention!   I almost had a costume done for it, but to save myself from stress overload...again... I'm limiting myself to having a lolita themed weekend.  Next convention, Ahsoka will be complete! I swear it!!  If you're going to be there check out and like Lightning Fast Speed Dating!!

So there you have it! Blog post #1!! Hopefully it wasn't too painful....
